Our first day in Maui, we realized our Airbnb was much further away from things than we had expected. We ended up renting a Nissan Frontier which worked perfectly for everything we did. We had breakfast at The Bamboo Grille located close to where we were staying in Wailuku.
Whenever I could I got fresh fruit and macadamia nuts, they're delicious there. After eating, we were going to go on a hike, but near us the weather was horrible! It would not stop raining. Finally we decided to head to Lahaina and check out a bar to watch the football game. We ended up at Down the Hatch. They had a nice outdoor set up to watch the game on a big screen, and they had margarita specials!
We watched most of the game here. After half time, we headed to a few other bars down the street that had roof top access. The water was pretty and we decided being outside enjoying Maui was more entertaining than the game. We got some infamous Dole Whip as well.
After walking around, we went to check out Napili Bay, but it was very cloudy so we couldn't see much. We then drove back to Lahaina and on the way, we stopped at Hanakao'o Beach Park to watch the sunset.
For dinner that night, we took a recommendation from many people and went to Paia Fish Market. With a very limited menu, it was easy to decide on what to get...fish tacos.
We went home that night with full bellies and ready to rest up for our Road to Hana adventure!
