San Francisco

Since we were not able to explore San Francisco when we went to Muir Woods, we decided to take another trip out!

The bridges in San Francisco are miles long! Our first stop was the Golden Gate Bridge.

People at work told me one of the best places to see the Golden Gate Bridge is at Battery Spencer so we put it in the GPS and headed over.

It was very windy when we went, but with the sunshine it was perfect weather. We decided to take a walk down to Kirby Cove. It is an easy downhill walk, but it is loose dirt and rocks so just be careful. There was no one down there so it was very peaceful!

Following this we headed back up to the car enjoying the views.

Next we went to the Presidio to set up camp. There is a campground there called Rob Hill Campground and is $75 a night with a military discount and during the week. When we arrived there was no one there!

After setting up our tent, we realized there still was no one else around. A man walked through the campground and we decided to pack up our tent in case someone came by and took it while we were sightseeing. The campground states multiple times in the paperwork that if anything gets stolen, they are not at fault. Our backpacking tent would be an easy steal! To Pier 39 we went! We parked in a very open area with people running and lots of traffic and headed over to the Pier.

We decided to eat at Wipeout Bar & Grill since we were starving! Then we noticed the Biscoff store across from it. My dad is obsessed with this place...It is probably his favorite part about going on a plane so of course we had to check it out. After, we walked around the Pier.

Then we saw seals!

Following this...we headed to the truck to put the things we bought away. As we approached the truck a lady was talking to us and I heard her say, "...and they broke your window too". Then we saw that the passenger back window was shattered...

We quickly realized that Aaron's brand new backpack was in the back seat, with all his belongings for the night inside was missing. We called the police who did nothing. Once I told them no firearms, I.D.'s, passports, or social security cards were stolen, he advised us to file our report online. That is it...

The lady who was trying to talk to us is also a traveling nurse who was meeting up with her friend that is a traveling nurse as well. His car was broken into on the other side of the parking lot and his backpack with his medications was now missing. He too had to file his report online.

We came to learn that this is a PROBLEM in San Francisco that clearly they are not doing anything about. No cameras are installed at these parking lots and even in the garages people wrote online they had their vehicles broken into. Should we not have put the backpack in the backseat? Yes, but what would stop them from cutting open the cover on the bed of the truck? Not to mention, Aaron's windows are tinted, and it being a truck, one has to walk up and look inside to see anything. Whoever did it, probably watched us get out of the vehicle or saw that we had out of state plates and figured there would be something inside. This isn't their first time, and I am sure it will not be their last since there is no discipline for their actions.

So, one day we will go back to explore San Francisco...maybe when the crime rates are lower, and there isn't a pandemic. Until next time San Fran!
