After spending all weekend in Key West, Aaron and I headed to the Everglades for 2 days! Though we were exhausted, we were also very excited to see all this park has to offer. Aaron, who loves reptiles, was beyond excited. While driving we stopped to look at some gators!
When we got to the park entrance I was happy to hear that the park pass works for an entire week! For those who plan to go for a longer period of time (campers), you don't have to pay the fee each day. There is an observatory deck about 7.5 miles away from the visitor center. You can either take the tram or bike it! Aaron and I decided to rent the bikes there and explore 15 miles of the Everglades.
Warning... there are a lot of pictures of gators...and their babies!
One alligator decided to stay close to the biking area and even cross it while we were standing there!
We also saw Soft shell turtles and one was out of the water.
Finally, we made it to the observatory deck which thankfully has a water fountain since it was very hot out!
Then we made our way back to the visitor center. We went to eat at Chuy's, a Mexican restaurant we found where we had $5 margaritas! That night we stayed at Miccosukee Resort & Gaming.
The next day we went on an Airboat tour at Gator Park. If you went the Everglades within 7 days, bring your receipt or you'll be charged a fee for entering the park on the tour. Our tour was roughly an hour and our tour guide even walked around in the water!
After the tour, we watched a little reptile show and had the pleasure of holding a live gator!
