My mom, step dad, brother, grandma, and last minute 2 of my mom's friends came down to visit me for St. Patrick's Day weekend! We went back and forth on where they should stay. We decided, why not stay in Punta Gorda! Fort Myers, Sarasota, Venice, all are great, but we wanted a place with less traffic and people.
I've been to Punta Gorda a few time since I've been here. It's a great place to go for local things such as food, drinks, and clothes. The first night my family came in we went to Hurricane Charlie's which if you've read my other blog posts, you already know I've been there before! Of course Ryan (my brother) and Nana (my grandma), were ready for bed early, so it was just my mom, step dad, and myself.
The next day, we headed to the pool located at their hotel! They stayed at PG Waterfront Hotel and Suites. It is in a great location, but it could use TLC in a lot of areas. The pool area looks out to the ocean and is located next to Hurricane Charlie's. After having my girls from home visit, I realized how important it was for everyone to wear sunscreen... especially my brother. As you can see below, it didn't take him long to realize his skin was burning!
We spent all day hanging out at the pool. We went to Hurricane Charlie's with everyone for dinner and a couple my Nana met back when she lived in Wisconsin also joined us!
Of course, that evening there was a band... and Ryan got up on stage!
After Ryan sang and danced with the band, a few of us went to the Tiki Bar, which was walking distance, for a couple drinks to end the night. The next day we went to IHOP for breakfast and were sad to see that it was raining. We decided to go to Fisherman's Village and walk around since it is partially inside and outside.
That evening we hung out at the Tiki Bar. We had dinner there as well, which had much smaller portions than Hurricane Charlie's, but we were able to sit in lawn chairs with our feet in the sand while we watched the sunset.
The next day we celebrated St Patrick's Day! Aaron came down and we all hung out at the pool. We spent most of the day there and once it started to cool down we headed over to Hurricane Charlie's for drinks and dinner. We all highly recommend the lobster bisque! It's amazing!
That evening we headed to Angela's. We saw it from the sidewalk and thought we would check it out! The tree outside was really neat and covered the entire patio area.
Come to find out, they sell food there as well. So maybe before I leave I'll be able to check that out! Then we went to Dean's and headed home. The next day, we took Aaron to Fisherman's Village where he had never been before. We had lunch at the Village Brewhouse. While we were sitting outside, we saw dolphins swimming! A great way to end the weekend with my family.
