A Night in Ventura

Aaron and I drove up to Ventura one day and checked out the beach and Main Street. While we were there on a Saturday, it started to get packed with people and lots of places were open! One of my patient's talked very highly of the night life in Ventura so we decided to plan a trip up there. Meredith, a friend from home Shawn, our friend Kellen (who is a travel nurse as well), his girlfriend, and Aaron and I all headed up for a night! Our first stop was Social Tap which was recommended by my patient as well! We ordered the nachos, brussel sprouts, and calamari.

After that we headed to our hotel, the Amanzi Hotel. We chose this because it was walking distance to where we wanted to go, had vacancy, and wasn't overly expensive. We had a few drinks in the room and headed out to a brewery, but then ended up at a different brewery named Leashless Brewing.

After this we walked down to the water and went to MadeWest Brewing Company - Ventura Pier.

We went down at the perfect time to catch the sunset too!

Our plan was to head to Main Street, but on our way there we walked by Bombay and that was where we spent the rest of the night! They had a DJ, dancing, and great drinks!

When Bombay closed we walked back to our hotel to get some sleep. The next day Meredith, Shawn, Aaron, and I all headed up to Sequoia National Park!

Calabasas Cold Creek Trail

This trail is about 20-30 minutes from where we lived and I wanted to get another hike in before leaving Woodland Hills! I found this and it is rated as moderate on AllTrails, which I agree with. It can be pretty steep at times. Though Aaron was sick of the up hills and down hills, he was pretty excited since we saw a California King Snake while hiking!

Not really sure where the trail was supposed to end. AllTrails said it was only 3.6 miles, but we totaled around 4.5 miles. We hiked to the highest spot we could and then headed back down the way we came. The last part of the trail is a Fireroad, so you can make this as long as you want!

M*A*S*H

This was one of the hikes we had on our list for awhile, well I did. My dad loves this show! Yes, it is where they filmed it! Here is a link to the multiple trails available:

That being said, it can be easy to get lost. The site is in Malibu Creek State Park, but can be accessed outside of the park and we took that route because it was shorter...but we realized it was not easier!

The Cistern Trailhead is on Mulholland Highway where you start at the top of the valley and go down towards the site. So that meant, on the way back we had to climb all the way back up! Online it says it is 3.6 miles compared to the over 4 miles if you approach the hike through the state park entrance. The trailhead only has street parking and the trail is poorly marked so if you decide to to this trail it starts up on the hill going into the valley. Then as a rule of thumb, just stay left until you get down into the valley where you T into a wide hiking trail.

At the T, go right and you will eventually see signs for the M*A*S*H site!

You have to cross a small creek and there are a few trees to help you cross it without getting wet, depending on your balance. Then you'll hike through some trees and see the beginning of the site!

It was really neat to see everything there and read about what took place where a the site.

Aaron also caught a skink! I highly recommend this trail for anyone who knows of this show. Take the trail through the park, it is much easier to follow. Maybe my directions will help make it easier!
