Everyone at work spoke highly of this popular and 'must do' thing in West Virginia, Bridge Day. Bridge Day is the one day BASE jumpers leap off the New River Gorge Bridge and into the water (I'll explain more about it with my Bridge Day post). It sounded like an awesome weekend for my mom to visit! So on our way down to Fayetteville, WV we stopped at Falls of Hills Creek in Hillsboro, WV. On the way down we all admired the leaves.
I knew this would be a short, easy hike and my mom would enjoy it. Here is a map of the park.
The first stop was Upper Falls, 25 feet. As you can see in the picture below, there is not much of a view here.
Then you head down the steps. If you are not good with stairs, this is not the place for you!
Next was Middle Falls, 45 feet.
Then you walk back up the stairs... then back down to find Lower Falls, 63 feet.
The leaves were just beautiful and I couldn't help myself but to throw them up in the air!
After we got back to the truck, we drove to The Vault on Main in Summersville, WV. This ended up being a little fancier than we were looking for, but we were not worried as we would probably never see anyone there ever again. We ordered the calamari, hummus platter, filet mignon, pork, and sirloin steak. They all had great flavor, but were not as good as we all were hoping for.
When we were finishing our meals, our server asked if we were planning to check out the Speakeasy. We said sure! So, she gave us the password and we headed down.
The drinks down here were delicious! It also smelled amazing in there.

It was absolutely adorable and perfect for the 3 of us. The owners actually met near where I grew up and they built the entire place all on their own. They were so nice and made their own lotion and soap that they shared with us. It was also exciting since we were their first renters! The next day was Bridge Day so be on the lookout for that post.
