Helena, MT

FINALLY! After almost 3 years of traveling together, we finally got an assignment in Big Sky Country...Montana. It is a place we both wanted to get an assignment in, but it just didn't work out until now! We are so glad we waited and ended up here in Helena. Helena is the capital of Montana and centrally located between beautiful Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

Helena is surrounded by mountains and of course Mount Helena we had to do! Mount Helena is not a hard hike, but it is all up hill for 1.5 miles. Definitely worth it though!

At the top there is a book to write your name in. We did that, had our sandwiches and headed back down.

Mount Ascension we can see from our bedroom window and is 1.5 miles away! Our next door neighbor Grace and I walked all the way to the trailhead and hiked up. The hike up Mount Ascension is less strenuous than the 1906 trail up Mount Helena, but it is about the same distance (3 miles total).

There are tons of places to hike right here in Helena and I am loving it! Not to mention, the weather is the perfect temperature to go hiking versus over 100 degrees in Reno, NV.

Downtown Helena is adorable! Cute little shops with locally made products and of course, lots of huckleberry stuff! I even bought Huckleberry Chai mix and it is delicious.

Windbag Saloon was one of the first places we ate at downtown. We loved sitting outside to eat and they had live music.

We also loved the food at Benny's Bistro. Everything is from local farms too!

A great place to get a drink while waiting for a table at one of the restaurants is Hawthorn Bottle Shop and Tasting Room. We were waiting for a table at Benny's Bistro so we went here to grab a drink!

Walking distance from the house we are renting is Lewis and Clark Brewing Company they have bands on the weekends too.

Headwaters Crafthouse is also walking distance from our house and has live music! We walked here one evening and ordered food to be delivered while we enjoyed our beers and the live music.

When we first got here I tried to find local events that we could go to. I found a Beerfest and after work we headed over! Not sure if they needed to get rid of them, but our souvenir cups say 2020. We still had a good time!

We have really been enjoying Helena and all that Montana has to offer! Look for more posts soon!
