Montrose & Ouray, CO

While in West Virginia we took an amazing trip out to Colorado for our friends wedding. Daniel and Maddy are our friends from Lake Havasu and they invited us to their wedding in Mancos, CO. While on my first travel assignment in Grand Junction, CO, I was able to see a lot of this part of Colorado, but Aaron never has. It turned out to be exactly what we needed and a perfect time to see fall foliage.

We could've landed in Durango, but the flights were a bit pricey. Montrose wasn't far and was cheaper so we settled with that. We also rented a car on Turo which we have never used before. It was a great experience!

Kristin and Kevin are two friends I met while in Grand Junction. Kristin was one of the charge nurses and a few years ago she married Kevin. I have not seen either of them since November of 2018. It has been so long. Kristin is 8 months pregnant with a baby girl, but they still made the drive down to get coffee with us in Montrose! The 4 of us met at Bluecorn Cafe and Mercantile and caught up on life. It was such a nice time and I hope that we get to spend more time with them again soon.

After this we headed to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. My dad and I visited this during the winter, so we couldn't do much exploring. Aaron and I took the drive down Rim Drive Rd and stopped at a bunch of overlooks!

After this we took the drive down to Ouray.

Ouray is such an adorable little town nestled in the mountains. I was shocked to see so many people there. The last time I was there it was winter, so there were hardly any tourists. This time, the road was packed with cars! We headed over to Ouray Brewing Company for food and drinks.

Afterwards, we headed to Gold Belt Bar and Grill. The bartender Adam was super nice!

On this trip I booked all of our places to stay last minute. While we were at the Ouray Brewing Company, we called a few hotels and quickly realized that nothing was available. We found an Airbnb just a few blocks away and booked it. It was a private bedroom and bathroom at Ouray Manor. It worked perfectly for our one night stay. The next morning, we were able to see the sun shining on the mountains surrounding us.

We packed up the car and headed over to Kami's Sami's for breakfast. This was recommended by Adam at Gold Belt Bar and Grill.

The food was amazing! We highly recommend it. After this we took walked into all the shops and looked at souvenirs. Once we were done with that we headed to Ice Lakes to hike! Be on the lookout for that post coming next week!
