Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is only an hour away and it makes it the perfect get away from the busy life of living right outside LA. While Brad was visiting, Meredith and I decided to drive up and let the boys have a day together at home. It was a very spontaneous trip and we explored things we came across and loved it.

Once we got there we headed to Stearns Wharf to see what it was all about. It looked to be a popular place on google, so why not!

We started walking around and found a place that had wine tasting... well you don't have to tell us twice! Wine tasting on a Pier in Santa Barbara... sure!

The balcony was peaceful and relaxing as we enjoyed our wine. Then we walked around the Pier and checked out the other restaurants. As we did that, a young man caught a crab!

Then we headed to the Santa Barbara Winery which is just a few blocks away from Stearns Warf making it perfect to walk to.

Inside they have a cute little shop too. The Lark was a cute restaurant we walked by and we wanted to check it out!

While we were on our way to Santa Barbara I said to Meredith, "Why don't you message Irina and see if she's off today?". Irina is a girl we worked with at St. Joseph's Hospital back home in Syracuse. She came out to California for a travel assignment almost the same time as us and is about an hour north of Santa Barbara! It all worked out perfectly and she was able to meet us for dinner.

We ordered the cauliflower which had harissa, lemon yogurt, marcona almonds, pickled kumquats, mint, and pomegranate seeds. The Brussel sprouts had sesame, medjool dates, seranno chile, and lime. Even the popcorn was amazing! It was such an interesting mixture and it was delicious. They have really creative dishes here with things you would never think of putting together. It was great!

After we had a few appetizers we headed over to Main Street for our entrees. We walked down the blocked off street that was covered in string lights talking and looking at all the restaurants. We then walked upon Mizza Artisan Pizza & Italian Cuisine and decided to check it out.

All of our food was amazing!! I highly recommend here and The Lark for food in Santa Barbara! When we finished dinner we sat and chat for awhile longer and then drove our separate ways home. It was so nice to see a familiar face over 3,000 miles from home!
