Seneca Rocks Hike & Tygart Lake

Now that we have a new area to explore, the planning has begun! Aaron and I have loved our new job so far and his brother Brad is only 20 minutes away on an X-Ray tech travel assignment. Aaron and I had a few days off so I planned a little day trip for us. We drove to Seneca Rock Trailhead in Seneca Rocks, WV.

Do not use All Trails to take you to this trailhead. Google Seneca Rock Trailhead and it will take you to the correct location. You do not have to hike to see the view of the rocks, but you have to hike to see the view of the valley. This is also a popular place for rock climbers, so watch out! The trail is a well maintained 3.5 miles round trip. The parking lot is huge so it was not an issue at all on a Saturday at 12pm.

There is an observation deck you can look over. It is absolutely beautiful! It is crazy to see how green it is here compared to the west coast.

After the hike we filled our bellies at Smoke On The Water BBQ in Elkins, WV. Highly recommend this place!

Then we drove to Tygart Lake State Park. It is free to enter the park, but there is a fee to go down to the water. We got here around 4pm which worked out since a lot of people were leaving. Tygart Adventures has a variety of rentals available, but one of the most unique things we saw was the 25 giant inflatables! They were so much fun!

After swimming, we went to Mountain State Brewing Co in Bridgeport, WV. They have a large variety of beers and cocktails available and the chicken wing dip is great!

We had such a fun day exploring our new home for the next 4 months!
