Woodland Hills

After leaving Modesto and Manteca, we were not so sure about staying in California after all of our bad luck. We decided to take one more chance and take an assignment in Woodland Hills, California! One of my good friends, a fellow 'Golden Girl' as we call ourselves, decided to join us on our travel adventures. I have been trying to convince her, Meredith, for years to start travel nursing and finally I succeeded! It didn't take much when I said, you won't miss much in Syracuse during the winter months anyway...

So here we are, in Woodland Hills. We rented an Airbnb for the 3 of us that is less than 10 minutes to work. When we first arrived, COVID was a bit crazy and work was kind of horrible. Short staffing, heavy patients, etc.. On our days of, we of course tried to capitalize on finding fun things to do! Unfortunately, we could not go out to eat so Meredith and I walked down to Ventura Blvd and grabbed some sandwiches on one of our first days off! First, for Meredith, coffee!

Then we checked out this adorable sandwich place called The Carving Board. We have been back multiple times...Don't mind the dim photos, the food is amazing!

The weather has been beautiful here. Of course, we cannot complain when we look at the weather in New York! Meredith and I headed out to a hike I found on the All Trails app, called the Temescal Canyon Trail in Topanga State Park. It was around 3 miles in total and was a heart pumping climb up, but worth it!

Afterwards we took a quick drive down to the ocean to catch the sunset.

Another day, Aaron and I headed to Solstice Canyon Loop in Malibu. This was a 3.2 mile hike that is rated as moderate and it can really get your heart pumping. We went left at the fork and loved how when we were climbing up the mountain, all we could see was the ocean.

Following that, we went down to the beach to enjoy some sunshine.

Since we couldn't sit at a brewery, we headed to 818 to grab a growler and made home made tacos!

Meredith was amazed at the pictures when we got back, so when Aaron was at work, her and I headed back down to the beach in Malibu!

It isn't warm enough to lay out by the ocean, well sometimes it is, but the water is freezing! We enjoyed walking on the beach and admiring all the huge houses. It is so nice being so close to water.

NOWWW do you see why I have to be near open water in either Florida or Texas?? Its so different than a lake or river or bay. Your pictures are amazing! That food looks SOOOOO good! I'm glad you have a friend there to share all this with. You and "Andy" look so happy, K! Be careful on those hikes for animals.....stay safe..... and tell Alan Harper I said "hey" when you walk by the beach house! (Do you get that joke?)

Thank you so much for reading and enjoying our pictures and adventures. We are having a good time here and have even extended until April 10. We love the open water, but "Andy" gets nervous about sharks lol. I miss you guys! Hope you're staying warm!
