Desert Storm & Jet Skis

When we were in Lake Havasu in 2020 Desert Storm was canceled due to Covid and in 2021 it was canceled as well. This year, they thankfully were able to host the event that brings huge expensive boats into this small city. This event highlights the top-caliber boats and hosts a street party, parade, and shootout!

On Thursday of the event, the boats are placed on McCulloch also known as Main Street. People are able to go and look inside the boats as they are turned on their sides! Thankfully our condo is 2 blocks away from this so parking wasn't an issue.

There are lots of vendors here to grab food and drinks from as well.

The next day the boats all go down the channel for a parade. There were tons of people down there! Thankfully the weather was nice for people to be out on their boats and in the water. Ruby, who we meet in 2020, and I went down to the channel to hangout and watch the boats. One of our co-workers Jen joined us too.

Saturday is the big day and thankfully Ruby’s husband Blake headed down to the channel at 5am to park the boat in the channel. Yes, there were already a ton of other boats down there! We headed down around 9am and didn’t leave the channel until about 4pm. The boats usually race on Saturday, but due to the wind, it was not safe for them to do so.

Aaron and I made Mexican street corn salad and a broccoli salad to share and everyone loved it!

It was so much fun hanging out with Ruby, Blake and Blake’s family. We are so lucky to have such great friends! Sadly Blake and Ruby headed off to Spokane, WA not long after this. We all went to Cha Bones to celebrate one last time.

Jet Skis

About a month after starting at the hospital, one of the nurse educators texted me asking if I would be willing to precept a nursing student. For those that don’t know, during the last year of nursing school, nursing students have to complete a set amount of hours designated by their curriculum in the hospital with a nurse. I have never been a preceptor before and being back for only a month I was a little nervous, but my student Maddy was amazing! Her and I had so much fun and she is a quick learner which made the job more fun for us both as we were able to go that extra mile for our patients and learn new things!

Maddy and I got to talking and she said she has 2 stand up jet skis! Aaron and I have never ridden a stand up jet ski so I said we would love to go sometime. Once Maddy was done with her clinical hours with me, we finally we able to go. Maddy, her fiancé Daniel, Kellen, Meghan, Aaron, and I all headed over to body beach to launch the jet skis and try them out. WOW, they are more difficult than you think! Finally by the end of the day, we all had ridden around the island!

Aaron’s highlight was catching a snake!

I tell ya, this guy and his reptiles! We were jet skiing for about 3 hours and decided to head over to Red Onion for breakfast.

It was a great way to start a Saturday! We all were exhausted after and took a nap, but it was so much fun and we cannot wait to go again!
