Horseshoe Tail Falls

My dad came to visit for a week and we headed down to South Lake Tahoe to hike Horseshoe Tail Falls!

It was kind of last minute when he flew out and unfortunately, the forest fires in California really made the air quality everywhere in this area horrible! We did our best to explore the area and thankfully we were able to do this hike!

Horseshoe Tail Falls is in Desolation Wilderness and is rated as a hard 4 mile hike. After hiking it, I think the hard part is just finding the trail. At times it is really hard to see where it is, but if you have the AllTrails app, you'll see exactly where the trail is. The parking lot is paved and had plenty of space when we went on a Monday afternoon.

While hiking, you approach a nice little waterfall in the beginning and then you hike along a creek.

The water is so clear and clean, common trend here it seems like. Eventually, we approached the waterfall!

We decided to stop the hike here since it does get very narrow and we found such a nice spot to sit and relax.

Just be careful on the rocks, they are slippery! My dad slipped and had to hike back in wet shoes! The trail I would rate as moderate until you get to the end where it is very narrow and steep. A lot of people brought bathing suits and if I was to do this again, I would too! The water is beautiful and refreshing so it would be nice to take a little dip after all the hiking.

If you're in the South Lake Tahoe area, I definitely recommend this hike! It was great!
