Kayaking Lake Tahoe

Due to the Caldor Fire, South Lake Tahoe had to evacuate and all of the parks surrounding Lake Tahoe were closed. This limited a lot of the plans I had in mind for while Brad was visiting, but we made the best of all the smoke in the sky!

I started thinking and one of the first things Aaron and I wanted to do when we got to Lake Tahoe was to go kayaking. Somehow after 3 months, we never got to it, maybe that was how it was supposed to go because we went with Brad! We rented kayaks from Tahoe Adventure Company in Incline Village since they were the only ones to answer the phone on a Sunday. It is $60/day and $120/week. I thought the weekly deal was such an awesome idea for people that are in Lake Tahoe visiting! One thing to keep in mind is that you have to transport the kayaks. I believe if you do not have a vehicle to carry them they will transport them for you, but that was just surprising for us. They are not located right on the lake so we had to put them in the back of my truck and drive them to wherever we wanted to go. He recommended we go to Speedboat Beach.

The one downfall of this, is parking can be a nightmare! Thankfully after I drove around for 5 minutes someone left and I was able to swing in, but I am sure on Saturdays it could take even longer. We put our things on the beach and jumped in our kayaks!

The guy we rented the kayaks from said there is a hidden hot spring we should try to find. Well we did! Since the water is so low and it is so hot, this one area forms a hot spring.

After enjoying it, we got in the kayaks and found a little cove to hangout in the water.

We paddled back to the beach to check on our stuff. Then we paddled the other way for a little while. It is so amazing how clear this water is.

After dropping off the kayaks we headed over to Inclined Burgers and Brews!

Then we got some ice cream at Susie Scoops Ice Cream, Donuts, & Frozen Yogurt.

On our way home we stopped to take a few photos of the sunset.

For anyone going to the Lake Tahoe area, I highly recommend kayaking! It was such a fun little trip and you get to experience the lake a little bit better than just lying on the beach!
