Quarantine in Havasu

All I have to say is, Havasu is not a bad place to be stuck. We originally were supposed to be done here in April, but we really want to invest in a property here. Once COVID happened, we were glad we stayed and could relax in a place we already knew. In the beginning it was a little rough similar to other places. Everyone hoarding toiletries, meat, and bread and now finally things here are starting to get back to normal. During those crazy days, we did our best to stay busy with what we had.

One of our co-workers was gracious enough to invite us out on her boat a few times! She and her husband have been so kind to us and welcoming. It made the quarantine not feel so bad!

Thankfully we have a pool in our condo complex that we have greatly enjoyed.

They did shut down all condo pools for about a month which was a bummer. To the lake we went!

We also became good friends with a couple who are also travelers, Angela and Brandon. To occupy us during the quarantine, we had a taco and tequila night, wing and beer night, and a wine and charcuterie party.

We had so much fun planning these little events. Since we all work at the hospital, we figured we might as well hangout! On Easter Sunday Aaron and I were off. In the paper we saw there was a church having a drive thru service so we thought we would check it out.

Now we have gone to the church every Sunday since. Here we can finally sit in the church! Following service, our condo complex had an Easter dinner. It was delicious!

My mom is phenomenal at arts and crafts!! I sent her a video on YouTube of how people are making cloth masks, and before I knew it she was sending them out to my friends and I. She's now made over 600 masks! Go Mom!

Here in Havasu, the cases are much lower compared to other places which we are very thankful for. For about a month I would guess, we did have a unit designated to COVID patients. There were days where we had to float to the COVID floor and keeping that bunny suit on all day made me so dehydrated!

Now thankfully this unit is nonexistent! Yay! One weekend I went hiking with another traveler, Natasha. She's from Sarasota, FL, just an hour north of where Aaron and I worked last year. Her and I had exchanged numbers and finally we hung out after all this time. Neither of us had been up to Hualapai Mountain Park so we decided to head up for the day. Our plan was to hike Aspen Mountain. We were amazed by all the green we saw and the elevation!

When we got to the top, we ran into a few of our co-workers too! On the way down we decided to head over to Hayden Peak...Well we tried.

We ended up at this Mount Tipton Overlook, we could not find the trail. We decided to head back and we ended up hiking up the road to Hayden Peak. Little did we know, it was all up hill on a 4x4 road. We were glad when we made it to the top!

We took the Potato Patch Loop back down to get to the car. I had no idea how high these mountains were until we looked in the brochure. Hayden is 8,250 ft and Aspen is 7,950 ft. Who would have thought that just 1 hour away is the complete desert of Lake Havasu! We had such a fun day and wished that we had done something sooner. Now she's back in Florida and hoping to travel again someday!

I wish my family and friends could have been here rather than New York during this quarantine. Thankfully we all have been safe and healthy!
